PROJECT ZARDOZI

A livelihood initiative of DCM Shriram Foundation. A small cluster of villages in and around
village, Loni, District Hardoi, UP is where Project Zardozi is nested.

Zardozi - A peek into the past

“Zar” means gold and “dozi” means “to work” in Persian. Thus, zardozi means embroidery using gold or silver work, in textiles. This art form dates back to the Mughal times and has flourished ever since.

Zardozi - evermore

A craft that has survived and thrived till today, zardozi has evolved massively over the years. From adorning the royals to now making traditional wear more exquisite, this artform has truly come a long way.

Project Zardozi

Project Zardozi was designed and initiated with the sole purpose to create livelihood opportunities for women and helping them become self-reliant.
